"Hey down there! Yeah you three," the Crow screeched at them.
"What do you want," asked the bird.
"Grrr, don't talk to him Charlie he only wants to cause trouble," growled the dog.
"Sandy, be nice to him maybe he wants to join in the game," said the cat while licking his lips.
The Crow screeched at them again this time saying, "No, but why are you three playing together? Don't you know you're supposed to be enemies!"
The three friends thought over what the Crow had said. Sandy, the dog, thought the Crow was right, because his family disliked cats for years. The cat, Smokey, thought the Crow made some sense. Charlie, the bird, thought the Crow was right because his family was terrified of cats. The friends started to argue among themselves.
"He's right, your a cat and my family doesn't like cats," growled Sandy.
"I don't want you for a friend because you're to...to ugly," hissed Smokey.
Charlie didn't say anything, because he was to afraid of getting hurt. For he was only a Parakeet and they were 3 times his size.
A Cardinal flew down to get a closer view of what was going on. The Cardinal lived in the area for years and knew mostly everyone in the area, except for the Crow. The Cardinal didn't mind Crows, but knew they loved to start trouble.
"Hi, my name is Red. I thought you might know what the fight is about," said the Cardinal while introducing himself.
"Hi, my name is Blacky. I think they're fighting because they're enemies," screeched the Crow back.
What Blacky said had struck Red as strange, because he Smokey and Sandy had been friends for years. So Red flew down to sit beside Charlie, to find out the real reason why they were fighting. Charlie had told him what happened. When Red found out it was Blacky who started it he tried to think of a way to resolve the problem.
"Shut-up," Red shouted down at them.
"What do you want, Red," Sandy asked him.
"To ask you two to quit fighting," Red said.
"Sure, no problem," Smokey said.
"Ok, don't you know you're equal. I mean you have been friends for years why start fighting now," Red tried to reason with them.
"I guess you're right, all animals are equal no matter what we are," Sandy agreed.
The friends made up and wished all animals could be as good of friends as they were. Today they still play tag and hide and seek, but they mostly sit and talk now.
