During the holidays I don't know if I notice the music in the stores playing more because of the feeling they give the people listening or if the stores just turn the volume up on the music during the holiday time of year. Either way I really like hearing the holiday music in the stores. Yep, I would be the one walking down the aisle singing to the instrumental version of any number of Christmas songs that you hear during the holidays and singing to the more popular 1970's and 1980's music that the stores play the rest of the year.
What is that saying 'music sooths the savage beast'? I think that is true, with the right music anyway. With all the different genera's out there I listen to most of them except for the ones where the singers sound like they are shouting rather then singing. I'm sure you know the type I'm talking about, you usually hear it pounding in a vehicle near yours at any stop light when your out and about doing errands or going to and from work everyday. Yeah that kind of music. I'm the one who will turn up the volume to classical music, (not the 1970's or 1980's classical but the original classical like Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Schubert, Tchaikovsky and many others in that category) up in my car when I pull up next one of those cars. I'm sure you can imagine the looks I get when I do that, at least I get one of two reactions when I do that; one they either take off like a frightened rabbit or two the music actually gets turned down.
The point I'm trying to get across is that everyone has their favorite type of music that they listen to in the car, at home and at work. I don't have a problem with it because I listen to most types, the only time I do have a problem with it is when the music bounces my car off it's shocks and pounds my ear drums. How many of you agree with this?
Come on don't be afraid to admit it, the more we stand together and say that our opinion is the same as the majority the more nothing is going to happen to change things. I'm tired of going with the flow of things and not wanting to cause waves. Sometimes waves need to be created in order to get your voice heard, I just hope that my voice is loud enough to be heard, in the mean time I will continue to listen to the artists that are brave enough to cause the waves (like Melissa Etheridge, K.D. Lang, Sinead O'Connor, Neil Young, and many others), and continue to post my opinions here at Heather's Creativity Corner. One day my voice will heard, this I know in my heart.
Keep thinking creatively, listening to what others have to say and forming your opinion in the mean time.
Enjoy your favorite music whether it is country, pop, hip hop, rap, hard rock, heavy metal, show tunes, classic rock, inspirational, classical, etc. Have a musically good day, week, month and year.
