The Holiday Spirit

H
appy Holidays! May the Joy of the Season be with you! Season's Greetings! Along with many other sayings that we hear through out this time of year. The Holiday spirit is heavy in the air, you can see it in the shopping malls, on the streets in your town, city, village or where ever you may be; the joyous season is upon us. I have one question though: Why aren't we, as humans, more joyous, cheerful and most of all polite?

It just seems that anymore people have become ruder during the this time year. I try to be polite, by saying "Excuse Me" when I accidentally cut someone off or bump into them and all I get is ignored, or a dirty look from them and for what being polite. Now how backward is that? Personally if I'm bumped into or cut off 9 times out of 10 the person doesn't say anything, but for the person that does say something I try to smile and say "No problem" or "That's OK".

I don't feel sorry for the adults that are rude this time of year, not by any means. I do however feel sorry for the kids that are with the adults and learning from them. Think about it for a bit; the children who are shopping with the rude adults are one day going to grow up to be like the adults they are with because they are learning by example. Shouldn't children grow-up learning to be polite, cheerful and joyous this time of year?

I wonder what it would be like if most people used a little politeness during the holidays...hmm it might just be a nice experience to shop the day after Thanksgiving, instead of a battle for who gets the last popular toy on the store shelves. Yes I said most, because you can't expect everyone to be in the spirit of the season for many reasons too. I'm thinking that the wish for most everyone to be polite during the holidays just froze with cold weather this time year.

Now there's a thought maybe most people's politeness froze-up when the cold weather came. Hey it's a thought, don't blame a girl for trying to be logically creative, because I just want to shop in a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere during the holidays. Doesn't everyone?

One final thought to leave you with: Try to think about the people around you this time of year and be polite. (Personally there are enough impolite people out there during the rest of the year to last through to the holiday season.)

May the spirit of the Season be with you! Season's Greetings! And Happy Holidays! (I'm trying to include all the different beliefs sorry if I forgot anyone.)
