Emotions

E
motions, the one thing that we as humans think we can control. Am I right? Come on admit it, you say that you can control your emotions 24/7/365. Well I can honestly say that I did think that at one time, but have since learned that emotions have a life of their own - most of the time anyway.

Sure when we are at work the emotions need to be controlled, but sometimes try as we might we just can't seem to leave those darn emotions at home or in the car. I'm sure some of you have, at one time, felt an overwhelming urge to cry, laugh or scream at the top of your lungs for no apparent reason. Right?? Don't be shy admit it, I am.

There might be a reason for that or maybe even several reasons that aren't as obvious. One reason that comes to my mind right off is we hold in the emotion for so long that it builds up until the point of either melt down or eruption, think of a volcano for this opinion. The other not so obvious reason maybe that we are exposed to a lot of built up outside emotion. When I say outside emotion, I mean the emotions of people that we come in contact with on a daily basis. There might even be stress in your life, which I know can cause the emotions to go totally out of wack.

Me, well the first and last reasons are the obvious choices for me most of the time anyway. But there are those days when I just feel like yelling or screaming for no reason at all or just curl up and cry for I don't know why. This is when I think the second not so obvious reason I stated above comes into play. Now I know some of you are bulking at this idea of someone else's emotion affecting your own, and I'm not asking you to believe me. I'm just asking you to give it some thought, that's all.

Notice and pay attention to your emotional state as well as to the emotional feeling around you. What is the general atmosphere or feeling of your home, work, etc. Be aware of your emotions and know when to release them.
