Christians Verses Every other Belief

I
know this a hot button for most of us, but it is something that I just have to get out of my head before it drives me nuts. I know there are 3 religions that are officially recognized and those are Christianity, Judaism and Islamic. Although there are other religions, it seems that the main one, being Christianity, doesn't want to admit to it or even accept them. The following is just my opinion from sitting back, watching and listening to everything around me.

First off, if you haven't read one of my previous random thoughts, The Path Less Taken, I am a Witch and proud to say it also. I was raised in the Lutheran faith, but did not feel comfortable, yes I went to church every Sunday with my family until after college, this was due a work conflict. Recently I was thinking about why I did go to church every week and came to the conclusion that it was to see the people I knew and only got to see once a week, seeing them (friends) made my week complete. One thing that made me different from most of them was the fact that I thought differently about the other religious beliefs, most of the people I grew up with believed that Christianity and their God was the one True God. But I did not see it that way, I have always believed that whatever makes the person feel whole spiritually is correct for them and recently that belief has only grown stronger.

Since coming out as a Witch (very slowly mind you), I have run into people that think that I am evil, when in fact it is quite the opposite. I am a kind person who tries to treat everyone how I would like to be treated. Hum, isn't that the golden Christian rule. Regarding that last statement, I have noticed that many people who call them selves Christian ridicule others who believe differently then them about their God, and then wonder why they are being hated and ridiculed right back my those very people. All I have to say to them is "Get a freakin' Clue". Stop and think about what you are saying and doing. Think before you speak and do, is that to hard to do. What are we teaching the next generation, to be hateful to others, to continue the religious wars that are still going on.

Some Christians do treat others how they want to be treated, but I have noticed that they are few and far between. Where I work, I am one of the lucky Witches who has a boss who doesn't care about what you believe spiritually as he tries to keep religion and politics out of the work place. I do however have two Christians (Baptist belief for both). Well one has learned to just not bring up the Bible around me as I have proven that I do know it very well (as many Witches do), but the other is still young and is a ministers son and very enthusiastic about his belief he still pulls away from me when I come towards him to tell him something work related. He is like many of the people that I am talking about here, the ones that need to listen and watch before the speak.

I am one of the many who just want everyone to get along regardless who the person believes is the higher power. I just don't mind if they believe in God, Allah, Jehovah, or even Diana and Pan, as long as they are a good person otherwise.

Keep thinking creatively and with an open mind.
