Ashamed to be White

ep you are reading that title right, on October 15, 2005, I am ashamed to be called a white. With all the riots that are going on here in the North end of Toledo, Ohio. I will define a little more for those of you have not had a chance to catch the news, whether it be local or national. Yes national news, we made the national news again. But hey at least it wasn't for our illustrious mayor, nope it was for violence that broke out in a mostly African American neighborhood due to a march that was taking place.

You see we had some 'Neo-Nazis' come to do a march in a neighborhood that has some gang related activity. No big deal right? One would think so but even the 'Neo-idiots', as I like to call them, presence in the neighborhood created a lot of tension and violence.

I don't believe in what the 'Neo-idiots' are trying to promote. Personally I think that they are a bunch of scared, uneducated white men, who have nothing better to do then to pick on some people who are in anyway different from them. The key word is uneducated, they didn't learn nor do they care to learn about the different cultures, they simply believe they are superior due to the color of their skin. (A backward way of thinking personally.)

I wonder what some of the 'Neo-idiots' would do if they dug deep enough into their family tree, as described in the book

and found someone of either Jewish, African American, Dark Skinned Italian or even Native American decent. That would so ruin their way of thinking or even standing in the group as a whole. (Hey a girl can dream can't she??)

Unfortunately none of us know for sure who is a 'Neo-idiot', who has the same narrow belief system or is an all around good person who gives everyone a chance no matter what. If you haven't guessed yet I'm the person who gives everyone a fair shake no matter what. I will socialize with someone who may hold the same beliefs as the 'Neo-idiots', but I will in No Way, Shape or Form call them a friend. I don't support their way of thinking nor will I prove their theories right, like the people did in the North end neighborhood. I just choose to ignore them and their idiotic way of thinking.

This is why I'm ashamed to be white, because there are people who have a louder voice then I do who are saying that the whites, of European decent are far more superior then the other races. With people out there like that I don't want to be referred to as white, I would rather be referred as an American of German, Irish, Scottish, English, French, and Native American decent. Otherwise known as a 'Human Mutt of America'. A person who is proud to be honest, giving and out spoken in her own right. Who out there can say the same thing?
